Today Spennymoor Town Band took part in the Durham Miners' Gala.
Firstly we played the Miner’s hymn Gresford at the memorial coal tubs in Jubilee Park, Spennymoor, then onward to Tudhoe Cemetery to play at the memorial dedicated to 37 men and boys who perished in the Tudhoe Colliery Mining disaster in 1882. We assembled in Durham at the Whitechurch pub to start our march through Durham towards the racecourse.
Younger members of the band played Gresford with Fishburn Band prior to the speeches.
