First North East Brass Band to receive National Lottery grant.

Spennymoor Town Band was the first brass band in the North East to receive a grant from the National Lottery - £50,000 in 1996.

A celebratory event was held in Spennymoor Town Hall for the presentation of a full set of instruments. Pictured far left - Councillor Kester Noble, Mayor of Sedgefield Borough, Councillor Peter Welsh, Mayor of Spennymoor Town and Pauline Murray from the National Lottery.
