Spennymoor Town Band came away with an excellent second place following our competing at the Stanley Brass Band Entertainment Contest.
Competing bands had a 20 minute programme in which to entertain the audience, and perhaps more importantly, the judges.
Our programme contained a Flughel Horn solo featuring Mike Fisher; a number by The Beatles, Honeypie, with surprise vocals by Chairman Chris Roderick; hymn tune Swedish Hymn/How Great Thou Art; and popular Miner's Gala march "On The Quarter Deck".
We are delighted with the result, and hopefully can build on this success for the coming contests. Our local banding buddies at Ferryhill Town Band took the well-deserved first place, so well done to them.
