Celebrating 45 years of music at Framwellgate School

Spennymoor Town Band (Fiona Casewell)have had a great evening when they joined forces with Framwellgate School Durham Wind Band (Michael Lamb) to celebrate 45 years since a school band was formed by Neil Davies, the band went on to represent the North of England at the Butlin’s Youth Brass Band Championships held in the Royal Albert Hall in 1977 and 1981.
The guest soloist was Stephen Smart,
a former pupil and now a french horn virtuoso Stephen played Over the rainbow by Goff Richards and Moon River by Christopher Bond. A highlight of the evening were the two soloists from the wind band ...Ikenna Eze on trombone and Oliver Winkless-Clark on Tuba ....two very talented young men. The wind band were impressive !!
It was lovely to see a number of pupils there who were in the band in 1974.
