This evening it was a pleasure for an ensemble from Spennymoor Town Band (Fiona Casewell) to play carols at the Whitworth Masonic Lodge Christmas dinner attended by members from 9 other Masonic Lodges across the area and a number of guests.
The Grand Master presented me with a cheque for band funds and those present were delighted to hear that their very kind donation was to be used as part the “Spennymoor Town Band Youth Development Fund” to assist members of both the Town and Youth bands with personal tuition, masterclasses, costs of attending Summer Schools & Youth Bands both regionally and Nationally and with other relevant equipment and music to help develop their music education.
The fund was, initially, created from funds raised by Spennymoor Town Mayor, Councillor Neil C. Foster when the Band was chosen as the sole beneficiary of his Charity Appeal, during his term of office in 2021/2022
